Position: Dairy Technician / Asia Pacific
Group/Division/Location: FMC BioPolymer, FMC Shanghai Enterprise, Shanghai
Titles of direct reports to your position: Technology Group Leader
Position summary: Supports the development of dairy application technology by means of undertaking and planning experimental work at laboratory or pilot scale as directed by relevant technical manager/ Application Specialists. Development work to enable support of customer projects is a major aspect of the role
Perform day to day laboratory duties and provide technical service support to the commercial organization – carry out customer food application trials, TSR and lab work, preparing technical literature, formulations expertise, etc. Ensure that lab facility is safe and equipment are functioning. Be a proactive member of the FMC BioPolymer AP Dairy Application group. Communicates technical activities and projects to senior management and the sales organization.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the applications know-how and product technology know-how and the technical service requirements around profitable key growth projects. Carry out day to day laboratory duties, as well as TSR and TSR project work in FMC laboratory.
2. Establish and maintains excellent customer relationships, especially at a technical level.
3. Assist with preparation of technical presentations, project plans, technology proposals and reports for internal and external communication.
4. Make significant scientific/technical contribution to technical development in the use of microcrystalline cellulose, alginate and carrageenan products in targeted Asian dairy systems.
5. Assist in training the commercial organization and customers on the technical benefits and value of FMC BioPolymer products in the targeted food systems.

7. Ensure all relevant equipment/laboratory space is available (in safe, clean and operable condition) to undertake necessary experimental work
8. Manage the experimental progress to meet the agreed milestones/objectives as set up and included in the relevant technical plan
9. Report the results of all experiments undertaken in a clear and concise manner to the appropriate standard of
scientific rigor with clear rationale for conclusions and recommendations for further investigative work.
10. Be an integral member of technical team helping to develop an honest/open approach to team activity to benefit the efficient development of new technology
Requirements:
- BS or MS degree. Fluent Oral and written English.
- Good knowledge of dairy technology with solid experience in R&D and pilot facility.
- Able to think through, analyze results and design appropriate experiments for R&D trials. Apply this knowledge in customer’s dairy factories and R&D laboratories to solve customer’s technical problems promptly.
- Strong communication skills (including technical communication).
- Ability to communicate to clients the key technical points and have the commercial selling concept.
- Strong report preparation / presentation skills.
- Ability to use the personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, database and graphics.
